BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The proposed amendments would adopt computer science standards and publish them as the Alaska Computer Science Standards.
The Department of Education and Early Development proposes to adopt regulation changes in Title 4 of the Alaska Administrative Code by adding computer science standards for Alaska students under 4 AAC 04.140(a).
The standards identify student abilities that evidence mastery of a subject area. Adopting Alaska Computer Science Standards would not require the establishment of a computer science program in schools, but would provide a framework for school districts with existing programs and for those that choose to develop programs.
