Celebrate local food producers during 2021 Farm to Summer Week
Celebrate and support Alaska’s local gardeners, farmers, fishermen, ranchers and dairy producers during the 2021 Farm to Summer Week July 18-24.
The annual campaign encourages eating, playing, and sharing about fresh, local and healthy Alaska Grown products for summer meal sites throughout the state.
In addition to serving more Alaska Grown products in meals at USDA funded summer meal sites, the campaign also encourages education activities related to Alaska’s agricultural industry. Consider taste testing local products, field trips to local farms or famers’ markets, hosting a meet the farmer/fisherman event, garden-based learning activities or educational lessons focused on local food and agriculture.
The DEED Child Nutrition Programs team has created a 2021 Farm to Summer Toolkit to help provide inspiration, example meal plans as well as curriculum and lesson ideas.
For more information or a copy of the toolkit, please contact Cyde Coil at (907) 465-8719 or cyde.coil@alaska.gov.
