State Board of Education Holding Quarterly Meeting Next Week
The Alaska State Board of Education and Early Development will meet on December 8 and 9 via Zoom for professional development, a work session, and a regular quarterly business meeting.
The professional development session on Wednesday will include a federal COVID relief update, a Region 16 Comprehensive Center update, regulation training, and reports and discussion from the board’s committees.
The agenda for the business meeting includes votes to approve the UAA School of Education, the draft board report to the legislature, and regulations to go out for public comment in the areas of teacher certification, assessment participation guidelines, and native languages.
The professional development session will begin at 10:00 a.m. on December 8, 2021, and the quarterly board meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. on December 9, 2021. The public is invited to attend this meeting by joining online through the digital platform Zoom or by joining via phone. The board will take public comment on agenda and non-agenda items on December 9, 2021, starting at approximately 9:10 a.m.
