School Improvement Grant Awardees for 2016-2017
Alaska is pleased to announce Round 3 of the School Improvement Grant 1003g awards. These 3-5 year grants begin with the school year 2016-2017. These grants are funded through the Title I School Improvement Grant 1003(g) funds allocated through regular Congressional appropriation. Alaska had a total of $2,840,987 to award to eligible schools that elected to apply for these competitive funds to implement one of six rigorous school improvement models.
Under the continuing parameters set by the U.S. Department of Education for federal school improvement support under 1003(g), 44 schools in 18 districts in Alaska were identified as eligible to apply for grant funding based on being identified as Priority or Focus Schools. Applications were submitted by 6 districts on behalf of 8 of the schools. Each district submitted a district-level application and a supplement for each school. The Alaska Department of Education & Early Development selected 3 of the 8 schools for funding for the 2016-2017 school year. The final submitted applications and budgets for 2016-2017 are provided below. Approval of proposed budgets for subsequent years (2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20) will be based on school and district performance on meeting the goals in each application and in the implementation of the agreed-upon plan. More information on the four federal models, the Alaska state application, resources, and other information is available under links presented at the end of this page.
