School and District staff invited to two-day IT workshops in mid-May
Staff in Texas getting hands on experience with computer parts
District and school staff interested in becoming more tech savvy are invited to join librarians, archivists and museum staff in a two-day, hands-on workshop featuring nationally recognized library technology trainer Carson Block.
Carson will start his Alaska Library Network sponsored three city tour (Juneau, Fairbanks and Anchorage) to show Alaskans from libraries, archives and museums (and now school and district staff) the basics of computer hardware, software and networking. These will be two-day, in-person hands on classes from 9am-3pm. Day 1 will feature getting hands on with an opened computer to get a literal feel for computer parts. Carson will also discuss software basics. Day 2 will focus on wifi and other basic networking issues. We now have a workshop page with a detailed agenda (see tabs for Day 1 and Day 2). If you like what you see, you can register on the workshop home page. Carson is still finalizing content, so these agendas are tentative.
The classes are capped at 25 participants. Register NOW for one of the following workshops:
- May 16-17, Juneau, Alaska State Library at the Andrew P. Kashevaroff Building (21 seats available)
- May 19-20, Fairbanks, Noel Wien Library – (19 seats available)
- May 23-24, Anchorage, UAA Consortium Library (15 seats available)
Not sure if this FREE two-day workshop is for you? Watch this two-minute video from Carson to see what awaits attendees.
This workshop is made possible by funding provided by the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
Questions about this three-city technology tour should be directed to Daniel at daniel.cornwall@alaska.gov. We hope to see you at one of our in-person workshops.
