Redesigned School Support program seeks educational coaches
DEED is seeking qualified and motivated educational coaches to partner with Alaska's leadership in designated schools across Alaska.
The Alaska State Systems of School Support Coaching Program pairs coaches with schools that are considered the lowest 5 percent across the state to help grow leadership capacity and sustainability in the districts.
Though the program has operated for years, there have been changes to redesign the program to promote collaboration and ensure a shared vision among the coaches, school districts, and DEED.
"We'd like somebody who understands the value of having a partner in the learning process," DEED School Recognition and Support Administrator Allie Gardner said.
Although the coaches are independent contractors, teamwork is central to the program.
In addition to working with leadership at assigned schools and districts, coaches will work together on a regional team and regularly meet with DEED's School Recognition and Support team.
"This allows us to pick up on trends and share resources. Our coaches, who meet every other week with the School Recognition and Support team, are partners supporting Alaska's Education Challenge. They problem-solve as a well-networked team so we can better serve the state together," Gardner said.
More information on the program is available on the Request for Proposals on Alaska Online Public Notice System.
The proposal deadline is April 13, 2021.
