Professional Learning Opportunities for next week examine roles of sleep and relationships in wellbeing
Two professional learning opportunities will be offered next week as part of the Alaska Healthy Schools Learning Collaborative.
The first session in a series of six titled “Listening to Scientists and our Grandmothers: Wellness at Work” will be held on Tuesday, October 26 at 3:30 p.m. This series reviews research and cultural best practices on things that keep prolonged stress from impact short and long-term health. The first session in the series will examine the critical role of sleep.
A virtual training on Wednesday, October 27, will explore the Fourth R Health Curriculum. This session is for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade health education. The relationship based approach of the Fourth R program aims to prevent adolescent violence and risk behaviors including peer and dating violence, substance abuse and unhealthy sexual behavior.
The Alaska Healthy Schools Learning Collaborative is presented by DEED and the Department of Health and Social Services Division of Public Health. CEUs will be available. Please visit our website for more information.
