Elementary Reading Academy Applications Now Available for K-5 Educators
In partnership with NWEA® and Consortium on Reaching Excellence in Education® (CORE), DEED will offer a joint learning, collaboration, and coaching opportunity that will empower 100 Alaska educators to translate learning into practice within their systems.
The program will support educators with in-depth learning and application of the science of reading instructional practices. Professional learning consists of the CORE Online Elementary Reading Academy and opportunities for participants to engage in collaboration and individualized coaching.
The course begins March 7, 2022 and takes approximately 10 weeks to complete. Participants are provided with textbooks, video clips, interactive learning tasks and webinars. There will be opportunities to practice skills via online discussion forums, webinars, collaboration activities, self-check exercises, and homework assignments.
DEED will provide a $500 stipend to every educator who completes the course. Continuing education credits are also available.
Elementary teachers (K–5), paraprofessionals who are responsible for delivering literacy interventions, interventionists, literacy coaches, and elementary administrators are eligible to apply.
