Phonological Awareness—The Foundation for Reading Skills

This module comes from the Alaska Reading Playbook. It provides educators with a thorough understanding of phonological awareness and its vital role in early literacy development. Participants will learn why phonological awareness is foundational to other reading skills, how to recognize the sound structure in words, and the best methods for teaching these skills. The course will also cover when to introduce phonological awareness and effective instructional strategies to support student learning.
