Administrative Review
The passage of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 resulted in significant changes in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act included many program revisions, including the mandate for USDA to develop a unified monitoring process.
The Administrative Review (AR) process occurs on a 3-year review cycle and incorporates both off-site and on-site activities.
The Administrative Review process ensures program integrity and compliance with federal law and regulations in the operation of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
The information provided here will help sponsors prepare for an Administrative Review for School Nutrition Programs (SNP).
USDA Administrative Review Summaries
Section 207 of the HHFKA amended section 22 of the NSLA (42 U.S.C. 1769c) to require State agencies to report the final results of the administrative review to the public in an accessible, easily understood manner in accordance with guidelines promulgated by the Secretary. Regulations at 7 CFR 210.18(m) requires the State agency to post a summary of the most recent final administrative review results for each School Food Authority on the State agency's publicly available website no later than 30 days after the State agency provides the final results of the administrative review to the SFA.
