Data Collection
How do we make decisions? (Data collection)
This section helps school districts recognize the necessity of collecting relevant and accurate data as part of the SW-PBS process. Learning about and understanding their role in the development, types of data, the collection of data, and use of data allows districts to develop a user-friendly internal structure for data collection and report generation. Accurate data allows teams to make decisions and recommendations regarding professional development, systems change, funding, and student interventions through a process called data-based decision-making.
Setting up a clearly defined data collection system is often overlooked. Districts often bypass creating a data collection system to save time but SW-PBS cannot be implemented with fidelity without it. Data collection and its use are a primary focus within an evidence-based intervention and should be reviewed and established prior to implementation.
