Early Learning Program Grants Application NOW LIVE
There is one application for two grants: the Pre-Elementary Grant (PEG) and the Early Education Program Grant (EEP Grant). In completing the application, you will be asked to indicate which grant(s) you are applying for. You may apply for one specific grant or both grants. Application Review Process
All grant proposals meeting the requirements described under the heading “Application” and submitted to DEED by 11:59pm on April 20, 2026 will be reviewed. The rubric found at the end of this document will be used to evaluate applications. Award determinations will be based on eligibility criteria as described under the heading “Description of Grants” and highest rubric scores.

Early Education Program (EEP) Grant
Alaska Early Education Program Grants support school districts to develop or improve early education programs. Grantees work towards implementing the Early Education Program Standards so they will be eligible for formula funding by the end of the three-year grant cycle. Foundation Formula Funding for Early Education Program Students

District-wide early education programs may be approved by the Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) to count preschool students for formula funding [Sec 14.17.500(d)]. Eligible 4- and 5-year-old students will be counted at a rate of one-half of a full-time student or 0.5 average daily membership (ADM). For more detailed information, click on this link.
Pre-Elementary Grant (PEG)
Alaska Pre-Elementary Grants (PEG) promote school readiness and positive outcomes for participating three, four, and five-year-old children. Information is gathered from funded programs to inform the longer-term implementation of accessible, affordable, mixed delivery, and high-quality early care and education.
